Western Samoa hotels are concentrated in the capital town of Apia in Western Samoa. Here you'll find the legendary Aggie Grey's and several other large hotels but no beach. There are just a handful of small beach resorts around the islands. However, there are numerous traditional beach fales owned and operated by local Samoans on private village land which offer the chance to stay in some of the most scenic regions and explore the traditional villages. These beach fales offer the true Samoan experience and offer basic accommodation in private beach bungalows with shared bathroom facilities, often with only tepid warm water. Don't let this put you off though, Samoa offers genuine hospitality, a safe environment and the opportunity to live simply like the locals.

American Samoa has only a handful of places to stay and these are almost entirely focused on business travellers. There are no beach resorts per say, but visiting American Samoa is about exploring the natural beauty of the islands on a self drive holiday, so the convenient business hotels are just as handy for tourists.
